It’s Not Easy Being Green

Jasba, prob. early 70s, no marking

And now for something completely different. This little lady is a candle holder which appears to belong to the Zierkeramik series made by Jasba in the early 70s. Prior to finding this, I had only seen pitchers made to look like ducks and a dish resembling a bear’s head — and those were in orange and black! Not exactly subtle, to be sure. Jasba shuttered its art pottery department shortly after this series was made (the company continued on and currently produces ceramic tile), so perhaps this was their final salute to years of colorful creativity.
