Scheurich 407-35

Scheurich’s “Europ Linie” (European Line) denoted products exported between 1962-68, a period of tumultuous societal change worldwide. Consumer products reflected the prevailing mood at that time, and the two vases here — with their assertive forms, bold color combinations, and glazes crackling and bubbling to life — are no exception. They eventually fell out of fashion, like all items do, and I suspect a fair number of the examples above ended up in the trash by the time the 80s rolled around. Now here we are again, living through “interesting times,” as some might put it. I wonder what items we use today will reflect our history as well as the two survivors here.
