Blenko Glass 8904 (15.5″)

Forgive me if I *ahem* color outside the lines of my usual love of Mid-Century ceramics and give some attention to this curvaceous wonder. Though produced by Blenko Glass from 1989-1995, it looks utterly at home beside almost any MCM item and can be found on my mantelpiece doing exactly that. A timeless beauty, perhaps? It is certainly one which can be dressed for any occasion: It was produced not only in yellow, but dark blue, purple and a light teal green. On top of its undulating shape, it also has lines of varied depth running up and down the body — a bit of character, if you may, to go with its looks. Last but not least, it is imperfect: Notice how the neck is just slightly tilted, a sign it was 100% handmade. I personally think the angle makes this piece just a little warmer, in the same way a tiny flaw makes people a bit more relatable. Perhaps the designer, Hank Adams, had a certain person in mind? Whether he was a Marilyn or Cindy fan, however, we will never know.
